What is The Best Juicer?
53
I'm going to take a slightly different approach to this hub and ask a question that I want answered (yes I know Hubpages has a Q&A section before you tell me). The question is in my title... "What is the best juicer?"
To get to my answer, I'm going to research a few juicers out there then form my own opinion, however, I would really appreciate some comments from fellow Hubbers and from anyone else reading this article on what juicer they have and any recommendations.
The first thing I should outline is what I want a juicer for. I want to buy a juicer to go with my new healthy lifestyle after my Christmas binge, so to make morning juices for detox and filling juices/smoothies for breakfast as a substitute for my normal two slices of toast with lots of butter and Marmite, mmmmm.
My criteria seems pretty basic so far right? So the next thing I want is a good price for a machine that is reliable and does the job well. After a quick look on Amazon, I came up with the following short list...
Breville BJE200XL Juice Fountain
The first product that caught my eye due to the huge amount of Amazon reviews, was the Breville Juice Fountain. I've heard of Breville before and I know they make reliable products so that was a good start, here's what it does:
- Heavy duty mixer that can take whole fruits and vegetables, so no need for cutting
- It has a 700 Watt motor which produces 14,000 RPM, which from what I know, is a similar RPM to a Formula 1 racing car, pretty impressive.
- It uses a 3 inch blade which should be able to dissect any fruit or vegetable pretty damn quickly, so great for breakfast as it will be fast.
- Parts are dishwasher safe, as I have a dishwasher this is another good point.
- 1 year warranty.
The Breville description says it extracts up to 30% more juice than most of its competitors, so this will help keep costs down, as fruits and vegetables ain't too cheap these days. t also states their juicer is 10x faster than its rivals, sounds good.
This one promises a lot, so if it delivers all this, then it could be contender. It costs about $170 with shipping, so that's not too bad for a juicer as you can pay a lot more, but it's still not too cheap either, so how about a cheaper model...
Black & Decker JE2200B
OK I said I wanted to check out a cheaper model and here it is. Again this one has a lot of good Amazon reviews so a decent start, but it retails at a much cheaper price of $30.
So what doesn't this do that the Breville can?
- The motor is only 400 Watt instead of 700. OK so about half the power which means it will take longer, not so great for my quick breakfast requirement.
- Its parts are all dishwasher safe like the Breville.
- Apparently its design helps to reduce the space it takes up on my kitchen counter, that's good as I have loads of other appliances.
- 2 year warranty, Great 1 year more than the Breville which says Black & Decker have some confidence in its reliability.
- It does not mention anything about handling whole fruits and vegetables, so if I have to chop everything up this will take much longer, so perhaps that's why it costs so much less as the Breville is far more convenient.
Looks like the Black & Decker is great for $30 and with its 2 year warranty, but I imagine as it lacks the power of the Breville it will take longer to juice and it may not be able to handle whole fruit and veg.
So let's see if there's a juicer that can handle whole fruit and veg, is cheaper than the Breville yet still has a high Watt motor to keep things quick for my mornings...
Hamilton Beach 67650
...and here it is, the Hamilton Beach 67650. This juicer can handle whole fruit and veg, it's priced at around $72 and it has a powerful motor, well 1.1 horsepower to be exact, so its the equivalent of having a horse make your morning fruit juice ;-)
It also has a 3 inch blade like the Breville and matches the Breville with a 1 year warranty.
Looks like we have a winner as this will definitely make for my quick breakfast option, its hassle free with no chopping and has a 1 year warranty so I can really test it out to check its reliability.
I will have a look at a few more to compare, but looks like this one might be in my checkout basket.
Before I buy it, I would welcome people to leave a comment on what juicer they have and if it's any good. Thanks for reading.
