Fitness Programs and Fun Exercise Routines
54If you are like me, then you may have been over indulgent during the festive period.
The combination of the rich food, Christmas parties and drinking more alcohol than usual all takes it toll on the body.
My weight has gone up 5lbs which is a big jump and my girlfriend 'kindly' pointed out I was getting bit chubby - thanks!
Her 'kind' words did however get me into action and I have began my more regular exercise routine of jogging and weights, plus the odd game of squash when I can fit it in. I have been doing this for around one month and already I'm finding it a bit repetitive, well the squash isn't at least, so I thought it would be good to mix things up a little bit and try some other options.
I have enrolled back at the gym, not to use the weights and treadmills, but to join fitness classes. Men might think this is just for girls, but hey I don't complain when a nice looking girl bends over in front of me when doing a squat in the Body Pump class, just kidding I'm not a pervert and I usually go with my girlfriend so I keep my roaming eyes to themselves.
So, to get to my point, I am thinking of new ways to keep exercise fun and variety is essential to keep you going. I have summarised a few things I thought might interest people...
Wii Fit - Keeping Exercise Fun
Have any of you Hubbers tried this?
I reckon it could be a good purchase as you can quickly get a session in as it's always set up at home.
I presume it wont be great for building muscle and the cardio options might be a bit limiting, but I have heard it's great for general body toning with the mix of stretches. Yoga positions and core exercises.
At least it would be fun anyway if perhaps a bit limited and you can always use it to play games and watch DVD's too.
Zumba Fitness - Body Transformation System DVD Set
This looks like an interesting buy, very popular on Amazon with over 1,000 reviews and most seem to be positive ones.
It is priced at around $55 which would be much cheaper than getting a Wii Fit and a Wii. $55 is equivalent to only one months gym membership, so not much when you put it into proportion.
It uses a mix of different dance styles to help you shed the pounds and comes with toning sticks that I presume you hold whilst jumping up and down like a mad person.
Comes with 4 DVDs that contain 6 separate fitness work outs. You can do express work outs to full body toning ones. The work outs are designed to work all your muscle areas.
Professional dancers have amazing figures, toned all over with an athletic look which makes you look really healthy. I reckon this could be a good option and I'm not the best dancer so it will kill two birds with one stone.
Here's a sample from the DVD set...
